I just found this awesome program today and it's addicting enough that I finished all seven 10-minute episodes in one sitting. I highly recommend the entire series to anyone who's interested in why they battle with weight issues and why they can't lose weight. As a person in this modern era, I struggle with food and weight like everyone else, and I feel like I learned a lot from this series. The series does not talk about diet or losing weight, but it does give you tips on how you might go about losing weight without dieting.
The link to the program is here: The Skinny on Obesity
I will post my TIL and tl;dr from the series after the jump.
Summary of the tips I learned from the series:
1. Cut fructose from your diet and leave it as a rare treat.
2. Try not to stress out (too much).
3. Exercise to keep stress away and increase dopamine levels.
4. Wait 20 minutes before getting second portions.
5. Eat fiber to help digestion.
6. For young women of child bearing age, your diet impacts your future children's diet for life, so choose wisely and keep healthy.
7. Drink water.
8. Eat out less; use smaller plates.
9. Stop buying junk food.
10. No more juice! (Which is the same as cutting fructose out of your diet.)
I have been trying to lose weight without dieting for the last 3 months and so far, while I did stop my trend of weight gain, I'm not losing any weight. I plan to test out the tips I learned in this series. The series stresses over and over again the importance of cutting out stress and fructose, so I'm going to do those too.
I already do 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, so I need to work on 1, 2, 4. Doesn't sound bad. I think eating too many sweets is why I'm not losing weight even though I'm exercising, so I'm going to start from that. Goodbye Nutella. You will be missed.
Cutting out fructose should be easy. I'll include anything with fructose in my Banned Junk Foods list and simply not buy them. The trick will be not being sucked into eating it again when I'm outside of the house. Not stressing out too much will be a difficult one for me, but something needs to be done about my stress level. Suggestions beyond meditation and exercise are welcome. Number 4 should also be an easy one to achieve. Just now I tried it. I finished my dinner, and even though I felt I was starving, I didn't go back for more food, and as the program predicted, 20 minutes later I became full. It definitely works and it should be easy enough to do.
